My viola shoulder rest is too large for my viola, even at its smallest setting! What should I do?
And I don’t mean just a little large. If I put it on, as soon as I lift the viola off of my lap it falls to the ground.
My viola is 15″ and my shoulder rest is a Kun viola shoulder rest.
Should I get a violin rest and just make it really big?
Take your viola to a good violin shop and try out a bunch of different shoulder rests to find one that fits your instrument AND your shoulder. A violin rest might work better for you, but you’ll never know if you don’t try it first.
