How do you polish a violin?
Its a pretty cheap student model. If anyone knows a good common polish or something around the house that will do the trick it would be appreciated.
Also, I read somewhere that you can shine up a violin with saliva. (No I’m not kidding lol)
Is this true?
Thanks =]
Saliva is actually not a bad option. Using polish on a violin isn’t really the best choice, unless it hasn’t been cleaned for a long time. But with polish, the resin usually sticks to the polish residue and makes an even stickier mess.
Your best approach is to make sure you wipe it down with a soft rag after every use, just to wipe the resin and dust off. Saliva is a good solvent to use if you want to put a fluid on it, the enzymes do a good job of breaking down dirt/residue and it doesn’t leave a sticky residue behind.
